The Mother Hips - Kiss The Crystal Flake
April 26, 2007 |
The Mother Hips have released a new album after a 5 year hiatus from their last full length album. It is a typical Mother Hips album filled with more than most can digest and only the gifted will hear what they are capable of producing. This four piece band has been through all of Rock’s cliche’s - from the Major Label courting, to being hailed as the next big thing, to 15 years on the road and still a relative unknown. To the early party days of the band that could rival any 70’s rock bands best or worst times. They came through without a chip on their musical shoulders. Kiss the Crystal Flake is a mature look at the last 40 years in rock. Testing the folk rock line as much as the progressive rock as much as much as the sound of the seventies there are far too many songs worth a listen. More than most will want to digest Kiss The Crystal Flake is almost a classic but where it misses is not as important as where it hits.
